PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Xenia Shoe and Leather building is an unique and exciting project. It consists of a century old building renovation, allowing it to continue to function as a business just as it has since the early 1920’s. Renovations include reproductions of the original windows and doors, along with exposing and restoring previously hidden elements such as the exterior columns. The existing drop ceilings were removed exposing the original and dynamic tin ceilings. Along with significant updates, the renovation through restoration extends from the interior to the exterior signage, also replicated from the original historic design. This project has been considered a great success, winning the “Best Small Rehabilitation” Award at Heritage Ohio’s Annual Awards Ceremony. As a beneficiary of Xenia’s Facade Loan Program funded by CDGB Monies, this vision became a reality.
