PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Like most apartment buildings, Hugh Taylor Senior High Rise and Grayhill Homes contain long corridors that pose a challenge to elderly or disabled people, who may have trouble maintaining their balance while walking long distances. To decrease this obstacle, Springfield Metropolitan Housing Authority partnered with Craig E. Dillon, AIA Architects to install a vast system of handrails in every hallway of both apartment complexes. The handrails are comfortable to use, easy to grip, and extremely strong and durable. These qualities make them ideal for providing support and preventing falls. This project made Hugh Taylor Senior High Rise and Grayhill Homes safer and more accommodating for their residents.
