Grayhill Homes Interior Renovations

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Grayhill Homes Renovation was an early project in SMHA’s on-going effort to modernize outdated, deteriorating residences to create beautiful, welcoming homes.  This inexpensive, yet dramatic, renovation transformed Grayhill’s hostile interior into a picturesque community, ideal for gatherings for both residents and outside organizations.  With strategic use of limited funds, SMHA and CED Architects renovated the lobby, community room, community kitchen, and the first floor restrooms.  They also designed a creative tile and paint pattern to brighten the corridors, upgraded the automatic door, intercom and fire alarm systems, and added new lighting that tied to a generator in the corridors of each floor.  Outside, the asphalt parking lot was resurfaced and the concrete curb was replaced. These improvements proved an innovative and low maintenance way to combine style with durability and efficiency, while adding cozy, residential charm to the shared spaces of Grayhill Homes.
